TREE CLiMBiNG FAQs

What is the minimum age to take part in a climbing event?

Participants must be a minimum of 6 years old.

How physically demanding are the activities?

Our climbing technique does require you to have a reasonable level of strength in your lower and upper body. The majority of work is done with your legs but participants are required to be active and healthy. We are able to help children who struggle but adults who are unable to carry out the technique will not be pulled up by our instructors.

Is it suitable for adults?

Yes it most definitely is. Furthermore we thoroughly recommend adults participate alongside the children they are accompanying.

I or my child has a disability or learning difficulties, are these activities suitable?

We always like to help so please contact us to have a chat.

How long is a session?

One hour.  Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your one hour session starts.

How can we book this for a birthday party?

If you want your birthday private to be completely private, you will need to book all eight spaces in the hour slot regardless if you have less than eight people taking part. If you want your party to last two or three hours, you need to book all the slots in those consecutive hours.

I am accompanying my children, do I have to buy a ticket for myself?

No, you only need to buy one if you are planning to participate in the climbing. If you plan just to watch you do not need a ticket.

Can I take photos on the day?

Of course you can!  We encourage you to share your best ones on our Facebook page too. If you sign our photo permission slip we may take photos of you or your children and put them on Meta or Instagram.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes before the time stated on your ticket.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you can save the confirmation email on your phone also.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?

That is fine. As long as you can quote the name of the individual who bought the ticket.

What if I want to book a last minute slot?

Please contact the event organiser. If the event is not sold out he/she may be able to take manual bookings over the phone.

What happens if I want to make a change to my booking?

At the discretion of TGBTC and the event site, any customer requests to make changes to booked activity times, group numbers and dates will be accommodated up to 48 hours before the activity start time. It must be stressed that this is at our discretion and will not always possible.

What if I want to cancel my booking?

A cancellation from a climber of up to 48 hours before the activity start time will receive a refund at the discretion of the host site. If the customer cancels the activity within 48 hours of the activity start time, full payment will be taken.

What if I don’t turn up to the event?

Full payment will be due and may be taken with the card used when making the booking.

What if TGBTC cancels the event?

Tree climbing is weather-dependent and all climbing is at the discretion of TGBTC. If there are severe weather conditions that may affect your safety and wellbeing, the session will be postponed or cancelled. In the rare instance that it may be necessary, TGBTC reserve the right to cancel the activity where conditions prevent safe participation or where insufficient bookings or participant cancellation make the activity unworkable. TGBTC reserves the right to refuse any bookings without giving a reason. Occasionally TGBTC has to make changes and /or correct errors on the website and tariff both before and after bookings have been confirmed.

Can I drink alcohol before or during my climb?

No person should be under the influence of alcohol before or during the activity. If a person is found to be under the influence of alcohol, it will be at the instructor’s discretion whether this person will be able to take part in the activity. No monies will be refunded.

Can you guarantee the security of my property?

TGBTC does not guarantee the security of any property including vehicles brought to our sites and no responsibility will be taken for loss or damage. Property belonging to the customer is at all times the responsibility of the customer.

Do you hold insurance?

TGBTC has £10,000,000 Employers Liability Insurance and £10,000,000 of Public Liability Insurance with a reputable Outdoors Activities insurer; a copy of the Insurance Certificate can be provided on request. Tree Climbing takes place in a variety of habitats, and the participant acknowledges that these environments are never completely hazard free. While TGBTC makes every effort to minimise risks, we will not be held liable for accidents, death, injury or loss of property that are not a result of negligence on the part of TGBTC, or for any accidents or losses which are due to participant’s failure to follow the instructions of the Instructors.

Who should I speak to regarding a complaint?

Any complaints should be directed in the first instance to the instructors during the course, so that the issues can be resolved at the time. Any complaints that arise after the end of the activity must be put in writing to TGBTC within 28 days of the end of the activity. TGBTC will not be liable for any complaints received after this time.
